Testimonials

I have now been working with Simon Regan for around fifteen years and first became aware of his work in the form of giclee prints that he had produced.
The attention to detail in the colour and paper quality was spectacular and a revelation to me.
I wasted no time in asking him to scan and make prints from my finished paintings and drawings and he has become an indispensable part of my work process ,now scanning everything that I do.
Not only is it the most economic and brilliant way to archive and document all new work, it allows you to supply high resolution images when required for books and catalogs and actual giclee prints of the paintings and drawings to market through my web site.
He is also a very brilliant photographer and videographer and has designed and produced my web site.

The Jack Cardiff Icons Print Collection

“How many fellas dream of actually meeting fabulous filmstars? Maybe taking Marilyn Monroe out to dinner, or giving Sophia Loren a ride in his new car? What about a long lovely evening with Ava Gardner in the exotic dark of a nightclub?

Swoon away, it's only a rapturous dream.

But not in my case. I have actually worked and made friends with such a galaxy of ravishing film goddesses to make dreams quite meaningless. Marlene Dietrich, Ingrid Bergman, Anita Ekberg, Deborah Kerr, Gina Lollabrigida, Lesley Caron, Moria Shearer, Jean Simmons, Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, and Sophia Loren to name but a few.

This headspinning assemblage was not only to be gazed at. It was my work. I had to study every subtle curve and shadow to make sure that such delectable beauty was faithfully recorded in my camera.

But being friends of the famous sometimes has its problems.

When I took Sophia Loren out to dinner in Tripoli our table was against a huge window and shortly after starting our dinner, I looked around to see hundreds of faces pressing against the glass, watching us eat like gold fish in a bowl.

Yes, sometimes I fell in love, but that's when you have to say, it's only a dream!”

Meet the Team

Simon Regan

With over thirty five years experience in the field of advertising photography, I can appreciate that your image is precious and needs to be reproduced in print as your vision intended.

The printing side of my work was really guided by the vision that the influential cinematographer Jack Cardiff wanted to achieve when we worked together in the late nineties and early 2000’s on reproducing prints from his original neagtives he shot of Hollywood icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Jack had printed silver gelatin prints when he shot the portraits in the 1950’s and 60’s but this was the only time he had actually produced prints. Jack was always an innovator in his cinematography, and when I showed him that new printers using the archival Giclée process could reproduce his images in such detail and on beautiful papers, he was excited to explore the process further.

As a result, my journey helping other visual creatives realise there vision of the perfect print was born. I am excited now to offer traditional analogue and superb digital Giclée prints to you with the help of Charles and Marc.

Marc Arkless

I discovered my passion for photography while studying at Hornsey college of Art in London during the late 1970s.

Initially aspiring to be a furniture designer. I shifted to photography after borrowing a Pentax K1000 and soon purchased my first SLR, a second-hand Soviet Russian Zenit E.

In 1980, I enrolled at Swansea College of Art and have since worked in the industry, including 30 years at Fotogallery Cardiff whilst also teaching at the Workers' Educational Association and Cardiff University.

My most notable achievements include traveling Wales with Joseph Kodelka in 1998, exhibiting work across the UK and Europe, and self-publishing two books: "This is Not My Beautiful House" (2021) and "Nothing is Further Away Than One Minute Ago."

With extensive knowledge of the history of photography and the science behind the zone system of exposure, I hope that I can be an assistance to photographers with a passion for Black and White Imagery.

Growing up around cameras and artists due to my father's work, my interest in imagery started early.

After completing my A-Levels, I pursued a career in the Film & TV industry as a Grip Assistant. Following the Writers and Actors strike in late 2023, I joined The Red Room to help structure our services

With training from Marc and Simon. I learned traditional analogue processing and printing methods.

My goal is to keep the passion for both digital and analogue photography alive and to build a collaborative space where creatives can produce and display their exeptional work.
